Geneva College offers a Civil Engineering concentration within its general Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree. Civil Engineers plan, design, construct, and operate buildings and large systems, often called infrastructure, that are used by the public. Civil engineers design targets (see mechanical engineering). Branches of civil engineering include structural, environmental, geotechnical, geomatics, transportation, and water resources engineering, as well as construction management and city and regional planning.
Civil engineers work in both the public and private sectors and may have primary job responsibilities in design, research, construction, project and business management, field or laboratory testing, or regulatory enforcement.
