Geneva College Athletes of the week for the week of Dec. 31 - Jan. 5:
Allyson Clarke - Women's Basketball
A 6'0 senior forward for Geneva's women's basketball team, Allyson Clarke is this week's winner of the Geneva female player of the week award. Clarke has continued to be the centerpiece for Geneva's women's program over the last two years. Already among the career leaders in points and rebounds, Clarke continues to climb the ladder throughout Geneva's record book. This past week, Clarke continued her stellar play with a pair of solid performances. Despite Geneva suffering its first loss of the season on Thursday at Pitt-Greensburg, Clarke posted 16 points and a career high 21 rebounds. On Saturday, Clarke managed to pick up her fourth consecutive double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds in helping lead Geneva to a 53-45 victory over Saint Vincent College. Clarke was 8-14 from the field and managed huge baskets down the stretch despite being in foul trouble for most of the game.
Bryan Hill - Men's Basketball
A 5'9 sophomore guard for Geneva's men's basketball team, Bryan Hill is this weeks winner of the male player of the week award. One of the finest long range shooters to come through Geneva's program in the history of the school, Hill has already knocked down 116 three point field goals in a year and half with Geneva. This year, Hill is shooting at a clip of close to 50% from outside the arc. In Geneva's only game of the week on Saturday afternoon, Hill caught fire and matched a career best eight three pointers in a 92-88 overtime victory over Saint Vincent College. In the process, Hill posted a career high 31 points. Shooting 8-18 from behind the arc, Hill's biggest shots came in the closing seconds of overtime when he canned a pair of free throws to seal the victory.
