Geneva College Athletes of the week for the week of February 18-23:

Female:

Christine Carugati - Women's Basketball
Freshman
Beaver, PA
Beaver High School

Christine Carugati has been selected as this week's Female Athlete of the Week. In two games this week, Carugati served as a spark for Geneva's women's basketball team. On Wednesday night, Carugati sparked a second half comeback with six of her eight points in the second half, including three steals that led directly to baskets. Despite a regular season finale loss to Westminster, Carugati again served as a spark as the Golden Tornadoes rallied back from a double-digit deficit in the second half to get back within just a point. Carugati knocked down three treys in the comeback, including the three-pointer with less than a minute to play that got the Golden Tornadoes back to within a point. She was 5-6 from the field and also picked up a pair of assists in the game.

Sophomore
Cleveland, OH
Rocky River High School

Sophomore Kyle Frohnapple has been selected as this week's Male Athlete of the Week. Frohnapple enjoyed his most productive week of the season with back to back solid performances for the Golden Tornadoes. Geneva finished the regular season at 13-12 and qualified for the NCCAA post-season and Frohnapple played a major role in making that happen. In Geneva's two-point overtime loss to Thiel on Wednesday, Frohnapple scored six points on two key three-point field goals in the second half to help Geneva rally back from 17 points down in the second half. He played an even bigger role on Saturday as he scored 10 points off the bench in Geneva's 81-80 victory over Westminster. Frohnapple again knocked down a pair of three-point field goals to help Geneva stay in the game before rallying for the victory. In just 13 minutes of playing time, he was huge for Coach Santarsiero and the Golden Tornadoes.
