Geneva College Athletes of the week for the week of April 7-12:
Amy Pearce - Softball
Amy Pearce has been selected as this week's Female Athlete of the Week. Pearce led Geneva to a 5-1 week with a .421 (8-19) batting average, six runs scored and 13 RBI's. Pearce, who tied a Geneva record with nine home runs in 2007, broke the mark on Tuesday with her 10th home run in 2008. Pearce launched a pair of homers in Geneva's 8-0 victory over Westminster to reach double figures in one season for the first time in school history. Pearce added a run scoring double against W & J and the game winning single in the night cap against the President's. Geneva has won seven of its last eight and are 16-10 on the season.
Corey Fraction - Track & Field
Corey Fraction has been selected as this week's Male Athlete of the Week. Fraction posted a pair of solid performances for Geneva' track and field team on Wednesday and Saturday. Fraction won his only heat of the day on Wednesday in the 200 meter event at Geneva. On Saturday, he turned in a pair of top ten performances in the 100 meter and 200 meter events at Robert Morris. Fraction finished eighth in the 100 meter event with a time of 11.40 and followed that with a sixth place finish in the 200 meter event with a mark of 23.64.
