Geneva College Athletes of the week for the week of October 12-17, 2009:
Adriane Blake - Volleyball
Adriane Blake has been selected as the Female Student-Athlete of the Week. Geneva managed only one victory in three matches, but Blake reemerged as a force to be reckoned with after suffering through back problems the last several weeks. Blake averaged over 3.5 kills per game last week including a pair of 16 kill performances against Bethany and Washington & Jefferson. After suffering a 3-2 loss to Bethany last Thursday, the Golden Tornadoes responded with a 3-2 win of their own against W & J. Blake also averaged 3.62 digs per game to help the Geneva defense. The Golden Tornadoes ended their week with an overall record of 15-8.
Josh Mann - Soccer
Josh Mann has been selected as the Male Student-Athlete of the Week. Mann scored a total of three goals this week as the Golden Tornadoes continued to roll with a perfect 3-0 record. The Golden Tornadoes are currently riding a five-game win streak and sit at 11-4 for the season. Mann scored the first goal of the game in a 2-1 victory over Washington & Jefferson last Tuesday. He improved upon that number with a pair of goals in a 3-2 win against Westminster on Friday night. For the season, Mann leads Geneva with eight goals as the Golden Tornadoes will look for their 12th win next Saturday against Saint Vincent.
