Geneva College Athletes of the week for the week of November 2-7, 2009:
Adriane Blake - Volleyball
Adriane Blake has been selected as the Female Student-Athlete of the Week. Blake averaged exactly four kills per game in matches against Malone and Mt. Vernon Nazarene last week. Despite a pair of losses at the NCCAA eastern regional tournament, Blake was solid at the net for the Golden Tornadoes. Blake also accounted for 23 digs and a couple service aces along the way. Geneva finished its volleyball season with an overall record of 19-12 and Blake ended her season with a team best 3.51 kills per game.
Aaron Tommelleo - Football
Aaron Tommelleo has been selected as the Male Student-Athlete of the Week. Tommelleo is the leader of a Geneva defense that put on a memorable display against 10th ranked Thomas More on Saturday. Despite a 21-12 loss, the Geneva defense certainly did its part against the Saints. Tommelleo was credited with four tackles in the game, but also came up with an interception and a forced fumble. Tommelleo′s interception led to a field goal late in the second quarter that gave Geneva a 10-7 lead at the time. Geneva′s lone senior captain, Tommelleo has been the heart and soul of the Golden Tornadoes′ defense all season long.
