Geneva College Athletes of the week for the week of November 9-14, 2009:
Olivia Biddle - Cross Country
Olivia Biddle has been selected as the Female Student-Athlete of the Week. Biddle saved her finest performance of the season for the national stage at the NCCAA national cross country meet on Saturday. Geneva′s women put together a ninth place overall finish against a field of 19 competing schools. Biddle posted Geneva′s second best time on the women′s side and a personal best. Biddle finished 55th overall with a time of 20:49. She was one of five Geneva runners to finish in the top 100.
Sam Thurston - Football
Sam Thurston has been selected as the Male Student-Athlete of the Week. Thurston has continued to be Geneva′s leading receiver in his first year of college football. The freshman shined once again on Saturday with seven receptions for 99 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Thurston scored what looked to be the game winning touchdown with just under two minutes remaining in regulation only to see the Titans rally for the winning score in the final seconds. For the season, Thurston has 47 receptions for 503 yards and three touchdowns. Geneva finished the regular season at 7-3 and will prepare for the 2009 NCCAA Victory Bowl coming up on Saturday.
