Geneva College Athletes of the week for the week of August 31-September 5, 2009:
Brandi Snavely - Volleyball
Brandi Snavely has been selected as the women′s student-athlete of the week. Snavely orchestrated the Geneva volleyball offense in four matches at the Gettysburg College Battlefield Classic over the weekend. The Golden Tornadoes opened their season with three victories in four matches thanks to the solid play of Snavely. In four matches, she picked up a total of 144 assists to guide Geneva. The Golden Tornadoes also posted a very impressive hitting percentage at the net which is a tribute to the solid play of their setter. Geneva picked up wins over Penn State Behrend, Richard Stockton and Galluadet in the tournament while losing to only Gettysburg.
Bruce Fox - Men′s Soccer
Bruce Fox has been selected as the men′s student-athlete of the week. Fox led the Geneva men′s soccer team to a pair of victories this past weekend at the Geneva College Invitational. On Friday night, Fox scored the game tying goal against Franciscan with only five minutes remaining in regulation. That goal ultimately helped Geneva pick up an overtime victory on a goal by Josh Mann. Fox′s heroics continued on Saturday when he scored the only goal in a 1-0 Geneva victory over Mount Union. The Golden Tornadoes ended the week with a 2-1 record thanks to the goal scoring prowess of Bruce Fox.
