Geneva College Athletes of the week for the week of October 4-9, 2010:
Deanna Briody - Volleyball
Deanna Briody has been selected as the female student-athlete of the week. The freshman setter helped Geneva continue to roll with a pair of victories against PAC foes. Geneva has rolled to nine straight wins and sits with an overall record of 18-2. This past week, Briody had 90 assists in just two matches and averaged 12.86 assists per game in helping Geneva get past Bethany and Chatham. Briody also had 22 digs on the defensive end of the net.
Gerard Muschette - Football
Gerard Muschette has been selected as the male student-athlete of the week. Despite a loss to Waynesburg on homecoming Saturday, Muschette enjoyed another career day for the Golden Tornadoes′ offense. Scoring a school record tying and career best five touchdowns, Muschette rushed for three scores and caught a pair of touchdown passes. Scoring on a pair of 16 yards run, he also rushed the ball into the end zone on a 75 yard scamper which was the fifth longest rushing touchdown in school history. For the game, he finished with 226 yards rushing and an additional 38 yards of receiving.
