Geneva College Athletes of the week for the week of February 7-12, 2011:
Shannon Rech - Indoor Track and Field
Shannon Rech has been selected as the female student-athlete of the week. The sophomore distance runner qualified for her second NCCAA national indoor meet on Saturday at Baldwin-Wallace. Rech finished sixth overall in the 3000 meter race with a finishing time of 11:15.85. She is now one of 13 men and women that will be competing at the NCCAA national meet in two weeks. Rech also qualified for the outdoor nationals during her freshman campaign.
Richard Colick - Basketball
Richard Colick has been selected as the male student-athlete of the week. Colick led the Golden Tornadoes to a pair of victories last week to improve Geneva′s overall record to 17-6. Colick posted 20 points on 9-13 shooting in Geneva′s 84-62 victory over Penn State Beaver. Colick followed that with a 20 point effort as Geneva snuck past Grove City 61-58 on Saturday afternoon. Colick also moved into Geneva′s all-time top ten list in scoring with his efforts last week and became just the 10th player in school history to surpass the 1500 point plateau for his career.
