Geneva College Athletes of the week for the week of October 10-15, 2011:
Deanna Briody - Volleyball
Deanna Briody has been selected as the female student-athlete of the week for the second time this fall. Briody and her volleyball teammates went 3-0 last week to pull ahead in the PAC standings. With an overall record of 17-7 and a mark of 12-1 in the conference, Geneva is currently in first place. Last week, Briody helped lead Geneva to victories over Grove City, W&J and Saint Vincent. For the week, the sophomore setter posted 146 assists for an average of 11.2 assists per game. She still remains third in the conference in assists per game.
Rocco Colavecchia - Football
Rocco Colavecchia has been selected as the male student-athlete of the week for the second consecutive week. Colavecchia led the Geneva football team to a 23-7 victory over rival Grove City on Saturday. Splitting time between running back and quarterback, Colavecchia rushed for a career best 178 yards and two touchdowns on 21 carries. He also completed a pair of passes for 28 yards. Colavecchia scored on TD runs of 13 and 75 yards in the fourth quarter to seal the victory for the Golden Tornadoes.
