Geneva College Athletes of the week for the week of November 7-12, 2011:
Shannon Rech - Cross Country
Shannon Rech has been selected as the female student-athlete of the week. In the cross country season finale, Rech posted Geneva′s best time at the NCAA Division III Mideast Regional meet at DeSales. Helping Geneva to a 26th place finish out of 47 competing schools, Rech was the only Geneva runner to break the top 100 with a 76th overall finish in a field of nearly 400 runners. Rech crossed the line with a time of 24:57 on the 6K course as the first of five Geneva runners to break the top 200.
Rocco Colavecchia - Football
Rocco Colavecchia has been selected as the male student-athlete of the week. In the season finale, Colavecchia helped lead the Golden Tornadoes to an impressive 23-10 victory over long time rival Westminster. Playing quarterback, running back and receiver, Colavecchia put up career numbers for Geneva. He rushed for a career high 185 yards on 27 carries while also pulling in an eight yard touchdown reception from Zack Hayward. He also completed one pass for 15 yards to round out the trifecta.
