Geneva College Athletes of the week for the week of October 28 – November 3, 2013:

Rachel Netherland– Volleyball

Rachel Netherland has been selected as the women′s student-athlete of the week. Netherland helped the women′s volleyball team defeat the Bethany Bison 3-1 Saturday on Senior Night, handing them their only conference loss.  Netherland contributed a team high 15 kills with 26 attempts and only two errors giving her an outstanding 500 hitting percentage. She also led the way protecting the net with six block assists in the victory. Netherland′s performance aided the Golden Tornadoes in securing the second place playoff spot in the Presidents′ Athletic Conference.

Rocco Colavecchia has been selected as the men′s student-athlete of the week. Colavecchia was a part of the offensive onslaught scoring the first three touchdowns Saturday afternoon in the Senior Day 39-7 win over Grove City. He ran in two touchdowns while passing the third. Colavecchia′s effort claimed him another single season point record in Geneva′s record book, currently at 104 points this season. He has racked up enough points during his unfinished three years at Geneva to hold the number two career record for points scored in Geneva′s history with 268 points right below leader Gerard Muschette at 274 points.
