Here at Geneva College we have a fantastic working relationship with ASP Orthopedics and Sports Medicine. Dr. Piper Kilpatrick serves as our team physician. Dr. Kilpatrick is a primary care sports medicine specialist who enjoys treating patients with any sport related medical issue. He focuses primarily on musculoskeletal injuries, but treats a wide array of conditions from pulmonary to cardiology to dermatology and everything in between.

His goal is to return his patients to the highest level of athletics be it sport, dance, or job in the shortest amount of time. He also attempts to provide education on injury prevention in order to help his patients avoid his office if at all possible.

Dr. Kilpatrick performed his medical training at UPMC St. Margaret in Family Medicine and completed an accredited "sports medicine" fellowship at UPMC Shadyside, working as a team physician with the Pittsburgh Penguins, Pittsburgh Passion, Robert Morris University, and Mt. Lebanon High School. He applies this training to help his patients recover as quickly as possible.

Ideally when one of our student athletes is injured or needs medical attention outside of the athletic training room, we prefer they seek care with ASP Orthopedics and Sports Medicine via Dr. Kilpatrick and their team of orthopedic surgeons. Typically we are able to have a student athlete seen in the office within 24-48 hours after an injury/illness occurs. However, if a student athlete prefers to see a physician closer to home we require that documentation of the visit, diagnosis, and test results please be submitted to the athletic training staff via paper copy or fax (724-847-5225 Attn: Athletic Training Staff). The athletic training staff will work with the office staff at ASP Orthopedics and Sports Medicine to ensure that student athlete′s primary insurance is accepted and secure a referral from a primary care physician, if necessary.

ASP Orthopedics and Sports Medicine doctors are affiliated with the Heritage Valley Health System. Should an athlete require emergency services while on or near campus, they should be referred to Heritage Valley Beaver 1000 Dutch Ridge Rd Beaver, PA.

If you have any questions regarding the health care of the student athletes, please feel free to contact the athletic training staff at Geneva College.
