Geneva's women's track and field team enjoyed an exciting day at the Washington & Jefferson College Invitational, while the baseball and softball teams got back to work within the Presidents' Athletic Conference.

Rebecca VanRegenmorter (5000 meter) and Susan Fletcher (3000 meter steeplechase) each brought home first place finishes to lead Geneva's women to a seventh place finish in a field of 15 schools. Despite not registering a point on Saturday, the men's team was led by Dan Dillman's two top 20 finishes in the discus and shot put. Other top female performances included Kelsey Anderson's three top tens in the pole vault (10th), javeline (5th) and 100 meter hurdles (4th). Laura Seyler led a trio of Geneva runners to three of the top seven spots in the 1500 meter race, while Jamie Williams finished 10th in the javelin.

Geneva's baseball team was forced to sit patiently and wait for the weather to clear up on Saturday. In the only action of the week, the Golden Tornadoes dropped a pair of games to Washington & Jefferson. Dave Foss saw a solid pitching performance wasted in a 4-2 11 inning loss in game one. Foss hurled nine innings and allowed just one earned run, but received a no decision. Phil Shallenberger launched a solo homer to tie the game in the sixth inning, but it was not enough. Game two got away from Geneva late despite three extra base hits off the bat of Jon Jurinko. Joel Gatti also registered three base hits and a pair of RBI's in the game two loss. The Golden Tornadoes ended the week with an overall record of 11-6.

Geneva's softball team will finally get to experience a home game on its brand new field this week. For the first time in ten years, the Golden Tornadoes softball team will host an opponent on campus when they welcome Chatham College to Beaver Falls on Monday. This past week saw Geneva register a 3-3 record against three PAC opponents. The week started with a doubleheader split against Bethany and a pair of losses to defending PAC champs Thomas More. Freshman Rebekah Wahl lost a pair of hard luck decisions by scores of 1-0 and 2-0 to start the week. Wahl finally picked up a well deserved victory on Saturday in an 8-0 victory over Thiel. Geneva's bats woke up against the Tomcats by outscoring Thiel 19-0 in a pair of victories. Amy Pearce added to her team leading home run total with two more this week giving her nine dingers on the year, just two shy of the single season school record. Adriane Blake ended the second game at Thiel with her second grand slam of the season. Geneva's softball team enters the new week with an overall record of 11-9.
