Geneva's baseball team is the only remaining spring sport with work left to do. Over the weekend, the NCCAA announced the 2008 national tournament field and the Golden Tornadoes drew the #7 seed. Serving as the host team for the second consecutive season, Geneva College will face Colorado Christian in a first round match-up beginning on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. The tournament will once again be held in Struthers, Oh at Bob Cene Park.

Geneva earned a #7 seed with its 16-16 overall record, while former AMC foe Malone (39-14) is the number one seed, while Mt. Vernon Nazarene (35-20) is number two. Colorado Christian, an NCAA Division II program which finished the season at 17-42, won the NCCAA central regional to earn its trip to the national tournament.

The tournament begins with a trio of games at 11:00 am on Wednesday with Geneva's game starting at 1:30 pm. The winner of the Geneva-Colorado Christian game will face Mt. Vernon Nazarene at 7:00 pm on Wednesday night.

While Alan Sumner will be busy with his team at the national tournament, his wife Linda will be traveling halfway across the world with members of the women's soccer team. Members of the women's team will be departing today for their trip to Uganda. Please pray for their safety and that they will make a significant impact through their travels.
