It was a very light week of athletic competition for the Golden Tornadoes, but the only game of the week turned out to be one to remember. Geneva's football team put together its finest game of the season on Saturday afternoon and extended its winning streak to three games with a 17-13 victory over the newly crowned PAC champion Thomas More Saints. Geneva won on its home field for the first time in 2008 and improved to 4-5 with a chance to get back to .500 in the final week of the season.

Geneva used a pair of Matt Dean touchdowns to secure the victory over a Thomas More team that had won seven straight games, including a conference clinching victory over Washington & Jefferson one week earlier. Geneva's rushing attack put up 235 yards including a team best 98 yards from Gerard Muschette.

Geneva's defense contained one of the most powerful offenses in the conference to just 13 points and 267 total yards. Geneva also forced four turnovers, including key interceptions from Greg Pfeiffer and Derek McElhaney. Geneva improved to 4-5 with Westminster coming to town for the season finale on Saturday.

Men's Soccer and Women's soccer are still in a holding pattern awaiting word on a date and time for the NCCAA Eastern Regional tournaments, which will most likely be played next week.

Geneva's women's cross country team will get back into action on Saturday at the NCCAA national meet at Cedarville University. Josh Gunnett and Josh Falk will also compete in representing the men's team.

Weekly athletic schedule:

Tues., Nov. 11 - Men's Basketball @ Youngstown State (Exhibition) 7:00 p.m.
Sat., Nov. 15 - Cross Country @ NCCAA National Meet @ Cedarville 10:00 a.m.
Football vs Westminster 1:30 p.m.
