And then there was one! Only the women's soccer team remains active this week as the only fall team left to play. The Golden Tornadoes will compete in the NCCAA East Regional semi-finals this coming weekend with the times and opponents still to be determined. As for the men's team, it suffered a hard fought 3-2 loss to Roberts Wesleyan on Saturday in its NCCAA play-off bid. Despite Bruce Fox's two goals, Geneva could not hold a second half lead and ended its season at 12-7.

In cross country, Geneva's women finished 11th out of 19 competing schools at the NCCAA national meet at Cedarville University. Rebecca VanRegenmorter was Geneva's top finisher in 25th position with a time of 19:36. Nicole Okerlund finished 54th in a time of 20:43. In men's action, Josh Falk pulled off a 22nd place finish in 27:07 and Josh Gunnett was 35th out of a total field of 126 runners.

Finally, Geneva's football team and head coach Geno DeMarco experienced one of the most impressive turnaround seasons in school history. After starting the season at 1-5, the Golden Tornadoes won their final four games including a 29-26 victory over Westminster on Saturday. In the 111th edition of "The Game", Geneva used a powerful running attack to overpower the Titans. Geneva rushed for 231 yards, including a 126 yard effort from Matt Barge. Barge also scored Geneva's first touchdown from 36 yards out. Gerard Muschette chipped in with 97 yards including an 88 yard touchdown run early in the fourth quarter. David Girardi completed 8-18 passes for 162 yards in guiding the offense. The defense forced a pair of turnovers and Derek McElhaney led the way with a team best 12 tackles.

The winter athletic season got kicked off in impressive fashion as Amy Russin and the Geneva women's basketball team won their first game of the season on Saturday. The Golden Tornaodes defeated Carlow University 72-53 in the season opener at the LaRoche College tournament. A balanced attack including four players in double figures proved to be the difference. Renee Rawding and Rachel Barry led the way with 16 points, while Michawn Rich added 14 points and 11 rebounds in the victory.
