Geneva's fall athletic season has officially come to an end and the basketball season is already in full swing. Geneva's fall season ended on Saturday as the memorable season for the women's soccer team ended the same way the men's season came to end. Geneva dropped a 4-0 decision to Roberts Wesleyan in Rochester, NY in the NCCAA East regional semi-finals. The Golden Tornadoes posted a final record of 8-5-5 in an incredible turnaround year for head coach Linda Sumner and the Golden Tornadoes.

Post-season honors were handed out by the PAC last week and six soccer players were honored with Coaches Award selections. On the men's team, Mark Zurbrick, Bruce Fox and Kenton Burckhart were honored. On the women's side, Lauren Londino, Kelsey Anderson and Amanda Caler all received PAC coaches honors.

Geneva's football team received 11 All-Conference selections after its incredible turnaround season. With only a couple weeks left in the Division I football season, Geneva is on the brink of becoming the only college football team in the country, in all levels, to start the season at 1-5 and finish with a record at or above .500, while also defeating the eventual conference champion. For all that work, Geneva was well represented on the All-Conference list. The following players received coaches honors: Lee Thieroff, Brian Dvorsak, Adam Chatlos, David Girardi, Gerard Muschette, Matt Barge and AJ Delmonico on offense. On Defense, Adam Rose, Zach Feltrop, Aaron Tommelleo and Rich Kolesar all received PAC coaches honors.

Our basketball teams are off and running into the 2008-09 season. The women's team has a record of 2-1 after splitting a pair of games last week. After defeating LaRoche 74-63, Geneva dropped a heartbreaker to Pitt-Greensburg in the season opener. Rallying from eight points down in the final minutes, Beth DeLuca capped the comeback with a three pointer to tie the game with just 14 seconds remaining. Pitt-Greensburg spoiled the party with the game winning basket coming with just 3.7 seconds left in the game. Geneva eventually lost the game by the score of 60-58. Rachel Barry posted 14 points and Val Hamilton added 12 points and seven rebounds in the loss.

In men's basketball action, Geneva put its offensive attack on display in the season opener in a 104-58 victory over Philadelphia Biblical. A total of 15 players scored including a game high 18 points from Brandon Harvey in his Geneva debut. On Saturday, Geneva dropped a 85-69 decision to Mt. Union in the championship game of the Tip-Off Tournament. Despite the loss, Rich Colick posted a career high 34 points and a team best 12 rebounds. Colick and teammate David Phillips were each named to the All-tournament team.
