The winter athletic season officially came to an end on Saturday with the final basketball games for the men's and women's teams and the NCCAA national indoor track and field meet.

The Golden Tornadoes closed out their basketball seasons with a pair of losses at Westminster College. However, they each picked up impressive victories against Thiel on Wednesday night as they celebrated senior night.

In men's action, Geneva College started the week with a 26 point win over Penn State Beaver. In the victory, Justin Nardi poured in a career high 27 points including a 4-5 effort from three-point range. Nardi played his final home game on Wednesday and led Geneva to a 100-75 victory over Thiel with his 18 point performance. Fellow senior Ryan Lynch scored a career best 10 points in the win and Steve Bauthier registered his first four collegiate points after making his first collegiate start. The Golden Tornadoes dropped an 88-80 decision to Westminster on Saturday despite a 20 point effort from Rich Colick. Colick averaged 16.7 points in the three games this past week. Geneva's men's team finished the season with an overall record of 8-17.

Geneva College's women's team split a pair of games in the final week of the season. The Golden Tornadoes dispatched of Thiel on Wednesday by the score of 70-46 to put an abrupt end to their seven-game losing streak. Michawn Rich celebrated senior night with a 19 point, 17 rebound effort. It was her 10th double-double of the season. The Golden Tornadoes fell to Westminster on Saturday by the score of 64-56. Val Hamilton scored a season best 16 points and grabbed seven rebounds in the loss. Geneva's women finished the campaign with an overall mark of 9-15.

The indoor track and field season came to a close this weekend as ten student-athletes competed on the national stage at the NCCAA nationals at Cedarville University. In women's action, Rebecca VanRegenmorter picked up the best overall finish with an 8th place spot in the one-mile event. She also picked up a top ten finish in the 800 meter event. Geneva's 4 x 200 relay team also picked up points with its sixth place finish. Jamie Williams finished 10th overall in the triple jump.

There are no athletic events scheduled for the upcoming week. The baseball and softball teams begin their seasons with their respective southern trips coming up during spring break and the outdoor track and field season opens on March 20.

In men's competition, Stephen Polite picked up four points for the Golden Tornadoes with a solid fifth place overall finish in the triple jump. Much like the women, the men's 4 x 200 relay team also was able to score against some very tough national competition.
