Geneva's baseball team became part of history on Saturday with its greatest late inning comeback. The softball team simply became history with a pair of losses at Mount Vernon Nazarene and the track team featured some solid performances at the PAC championships at Westminster College.

Geneva's baseball team opened the week with a doubleheader sweep over Westminster that featured five home runs. Adam Scheiderer led the way with a pair of homers as Geneva posted 22 runs in sweeping the Titans. Derek Sumner won for the ninth time with a complete game three hitter and Matt Baer picked up victory number seven with a complete game five-hitter. Jon Jurinko was a perfect 4-4 in the night cap including a first inning solo homer to get Geneva on the board.

After dropping a single game to Thiel on Friday, the stage was set for some fireworks on Saturday. Trailing 14-6 heading into the seventh inning of game one, Geneva scored nine runs in the top of the seventh to win the game 15-14. Tadd Eyster had two hits in the rally including a game tying two-run triple with two outs. Geneva lost the night cap and finished the week with an overall record of 21-12.

The softball teams hopes of advancing to the NCCAA national tournament were dashed on Saturday with a pair of losses to Mount Vernon Nazarene. The Golden Tornadoes came within one strike of winning game one before the Cougars exploded for four consecutive hits with two outs to score three runs and take game one 4-3. A 12-6 loss in game two sealed Geneva's fate. The week began with a doubleheader split at Waynesburg. Ashley Archer took a perfect game into the sixth inning before settling for a two-hitter and a career high 14 strikeouts. Rebekah Wahl struck out 13 in game two, but the offense could only muster a pair of runs in a 3-2 loss. Amy Pearce collected five RBI's in the doubleheader and Adriane Blake hit her fourth home run of the season. Geneva will take a 23-15 record into its season ending doubleheader on Tuesday.

The track team competed at the PAC championships at Westminster College on Saturday. Rebecca VanRegenmorter and Tiffany Bear each turned in solid performances with a pair of top tens. Van Regenmorter finished second in the 1500 meter race and seventh in the 800 meter event. Bear was second in the javelin and took sixth place in the long jump. Teammate Jamie Williams turned in a fifth place finish in the high jump. In men's action, Bobby Rex highlighted the day with his second place finish in the 200 meter event. Shaka Sydnor was seventh in the long jump. Geneva will send 12 student-athletes to the NCCAA national meet next Saturday.
