Geneva College is currently home to some of the hottest teams in the region. The fall of 2008 continues to sizzle with outstanding performances from the Golden Tornadoes. With the football team enjoying its only off week of the season, some of the other fall teams took center stage. The men's soccer team continued to roll with a pair of victories, while the women's team has run its unbeaten streak to three matches. Geneva's tennis team split a pair of PAC matches and the volleyball team just kept rolling along.

Both the football and cross country team enjoyed a weekend away from competition, but the other athletic teams certainly picked up the slack. In men's soccer, Geneva ran its winning streak to six with victories over LaRoche and Franciscan. On Monday night, Matt Weaver netted the game winning goal a few minutes into the first overtime to secure a 2-1 victory. Sam McCracken made the victory possible with seven saves, including back to back acrobatic efforts late in regulation. On Wednesday, Bruce Fox scored two goals to pace Geneva to a 3-0 victory. David Callahan registered his second shut-out of the season in goal. With just one match this week, Geneva will put its 6-1 overall record on the line.

In women's soccer action, Geneva did not lose either of its two matches last week, however it didn't win either match. The Golden Tornadoes settled for a pair of ties against Franciscan and Heidelberg. Sophomore goalkeeper Lauren Londino registered her fourth shut-out of the season in a 0-0 tie with Franciscan on Wednesday. On Saturday, Geneva could not hold on to a pair of one goal leads and ended up with a 2-2 tie against Heidelberg. Kelsey Anderson and Rebecca Shaw each scored goals in the tie. Geneva sits at 3-2-2 on the season, but has not lost a match in three straight.

Geneva's tennis team split a pair of PAC matches last week. It ran into the steamroller that is Grove City on Monday. The Wolverines have won 21 consecutive PAC championships and took care of Geneva 9-0. The Golden Tornadoes made the five-hour trip to Thomas More on Friday, but the trip turned out to be worth the wait as the Golden Tornadoes cruised to an 8-1 victory. Geneva is currently 3-3 overall and will enjoy a pair of home PAC matches this week.

Perhaps the hottest team in any sport in the PAC right now is Geneva's volleyball team. The Golden Tornadoes have won seven straight matches, including four victories last week against their first PAC competition of the season. Geneva picked up 3-1 wins over Westminster and W & J on Wednesday and then got a pair of shut-out victories over Thiel and Saint Vincent in the first home matches of the season on Saturday afternoon. Adriane Blake continued to pace the offensive charge, but got significant help at the net from Rachel Kuegler, Michelle Zimmovan and Elizabeth Fisher. Senior libero Faith Guerra was back in action after an injury and Brandi Snavely continues to lead the PAC in assists at the setter position. Geneva is 9-3 on the season just one year after starting the season at 0-11.
