Last week's sports action can be summarized in just one word - Perfection! Geneva's teams did not lose a game all week and posted a combined record of 7-0 across the board.

Geneva's football team picked up its first victory of the season with a 31-17 decision over Thiel College on Saturday. Sophomore running back Gerard Muschette led a powerful running attack with 126 yards on 16 carries and one touchdown. Matt Dean rushed for a pair of touchdowns and Matt Barge posted 72 yards on 13 carriers. David Girardi played his most impressive game of the year by completing 13-17 passes for 153 yards. Geneva's defense held Thiel to just 189 total yards and was led by Zach Feltrop's 8.5 tackles. Geneva moved its overall record to 1-2 with a victory in its first PAC action of the season.

The only other team in action on Saturday was cross country. Senior Rebecca VanRegenmorter stole the spotlight with an outstanding performance. She finished 3rd out of 123 runners at the Saint Vincent College Invitational in leading Geneva's women to a 4th place finish out of 12 schools. VanRegenmorter broke the 20-minute barrier with a final time of 19:56. Teammate Nicole Okerlund also enjoyed a special day with an 8th place finish. In men's action, Josh Gunnett led the way with a ninth place finish and a time of 27:30, while teammate Josh Falk finished 14th overall. The men finished the overall competition in 7th place out of 10 schools.

Geneva's men's soccer team won its only match of the week with a 2-1 decision over Pitt-Greensburg on Tuesday night. Geneva moved to 8-1 with its eighth straight victory on the strength of goals from Bruce Fox and Zac Buffalini. The Golden Tornadoes controlled the pace of the game from start to finish and continue to be one of the hottest teams in the region.

In women's soccer, Geneva defeated Pitt-Greensburg 4-1 in its only match of the week. Amanda Munsch scored a pair of goals, while Rebecca Shaw and Kelsey Anderson each posted a goal in the victory. Geneva moved to 4-2-2 on the season and increased its unbeaten streak to four straight matches. Lauren Londino came within just a few minutes of registering her fifth shut-out of the season in goal.

The tennis team had its match with Saint Vincent postponed on Saturday, but it did have a successful outing at home against W & J last Thursday. The Golden Tornadoes cruised to an 8-1 victory over the President's to improve to 4-3 on the season with its second straight victory over a PAC opponent. Chelsea Cover, Amy Weller and Jill Grabski each posted victories in singles and doubles to pace the victory.

Finally, the hottest team on the planet is Geneva's volleyball squad. The Golden Tornadoes won three more times last week and improved to 12-3 on the season. Geneva has rolled to ten consecutive victories including impressive wins over Penn State Beaver and Houghton on Friday night. Geneva's team has not lost a game in five matches and showed one of the most impressive performances against a solid Houghton team on Friday. Sophomore Adriane Blake put together 12 consecutive service points, including four aces to get Geneva off and running in the first game. She finished the match with 18 kills on just 28 attempts. She also led the way with 18 digs. Brandi Snavely, who continues to lead the PAC in assists, had over 60 assists in the two matches on Friday night.
