Waiting can sometimes be the hardest part. This is certainly the case for the Geneva menâ??s and womenâ??s soccer teams as they await their post-season assignments. The cross country teams know where they will be this weekend as they travel to Cedarville for the NCCAA national meet. Volleyball saw its season come to an end while the football team went toe to toe with the 10th ranked team in the nation on Saturday.

Defense wins championships and that is the case for the Thomas More College football team. The Saints captured their second consecutive PAC title a week before hosting Geneva on Saturday. The Golden Tornadoes got a full dose of that defense in a 21-12 loss. As well as the Thomas More defense played, Genevaâ??s defensive 11 were equal to the task. Accounting for nine of Genevaâ??s 12 points, the defense played its most impressive game of the season. Brian Wilson scooped up fumble in the second quarter and ran 80 yards for the sixth defensive score of the season. Geneva took a 10-7 lead into the locker room after a Nick DiPietro 40-yard field goal, but could not hold on for the final 30 minutes. Aaron Tommelleo had four tackles, an interception and forced fumble for Geneva while Jake Delmonico also had an interception for one of four forced turnovers by the Golden Tornadoes. Geneva sits at 7-2 for the season and will travel to Westminster in the regular season finale on Saturday. Geneva will find out its NCCAA Victory Bowl fate this Wednesday as to whether it will be competing in a record sixth Victory Bowl on November 21.

The volleyball team saw its season come to an end last week with losses to Malone and Mt. Vernon in what was the NCCAA east regional tournament. Losses to Malone by the score of 3-1 and Mt. Vernon by the score of 3-0, the Golden Tornadoes ended their season at 19-12. Adriane Blake, Rachel Kuegler, Michelle Zimmovan and Brandi Snavely all received PAC coaches honors which is the equivalent of All-Conference recognition.

The cross country teams will close out their seasons on Saturday as both teams compete at the NCCAA national meet at Cedarville University. Both teams qualified for the nationals based on fourth place finishes at the PAC championships a week ago.

The waiting continues for Genevaâ??s soccer teams. Both the men and women will be competing at the NCCAA east regional tournaments, but neither date has been set. Most likely, both tournaments will take place the weekend of November 20-21 with the men hosting and the women traveling, but those decisions will not be made until the end of the week.
