Genevaâ??s womenâ??s basketball team needed something good to happen on Saturday and it did in the form of a 61-57 victory over Bethany College. Valerie Hamilton scored 13 of her game high 19 points in the second half and Leah Prisuta nailed a pair of free throws in the final seconds to ice the game away. The Golden Tornadoes improved to 7-12 on the season after its win against Bethany and a 57-53 loss at Thiel last Wednesday. Still in search of their first road win of the season, Geneva was able to hold off Bethany on Saturday to send the Bison to an 0-10 record away from home. Alyse Scarsella continues to come on strong having led Geneva in scoring or rebounding in three of the last four games. For the season, Renee Rawding leads the offense with 12.3 points per game with Scarsella coming in at 10.0 points per game. Geneva faces its toughest week of the season with a home game against nationally ranked Thomas More on Wednesday before traveling to 15-4 Saint Vincent on Saturday.

Coming into last week, Genevaâ??s menâ??s basketball team was flying high with a six game winning streak. What a difference a week makes? The Golden Tornadoes fell to Thiel and Bethany last week to drop to 11-9 for the season. In order to qualify for the NCCAA post-season, Geneva must win two of its final five games of the regular season to secure a record over .500. Nothing went right on Wednesday in a 24- point loss to Thiel that ended the six-game win streak. On Saturday, Rich Colick scored 29 points and Nate Reep posted a career high 13 points on 6-6 shooting, but it wasn't enough to hold down Bethany as it completed a season sweep against Geneva with a 65-57 victory. Colick is Genevaâ??s lone player averaging in double figures with 17. 4 points per game.

Genevaâ??s men and women host Thomas More on Wednesday night and we are calling for a WHITE OUT NIGHT at Metheny Fieldhouse. The Thomas More women have been ranked in or around the top ten all year and the Thomas More men are 14-5 and tied for the top spot in the PAC. Our teams can use everyoneâ??s support to turn Metheny Fieldhouse into a White Out. The womenâ??s game begins at 6 p.m. and the men follow at 8 p.m. so come out and support the Golden Tornadoes against the Saints from Thomas More.
