It was another solid performance from several members of the track and field team on Saturday at Robert Morris. The baseball team shrugged the monkey off their back and Julie DiLonardo was nearly unhittable as the softball team took a pair from rival Westminster in a full week of action for the Golden Tornadoes.

Genevaâ??s track and field team tossed its hat into the Division I ring on Saturday at Robert Morris University. Several athletes turned in solid performances highlighted by Dan Dillmanâ??s season best effort 43-11.75. Dillman finished fourth overall at the meet. Monas Cunningham continued his good work with a third place finish in the 110 meter hurdles while Nick Edinger was fifth in the 5K with a season best time of 16:17. Highlighting the womenâ??s action was Julie Urbanskiâ??s NCCAA national qualifying time of 4:59.13 in the 1500 meter race. Urbanski finished second overall in the 1500 and also posted a 4th place finish in the 800 meter event. Aisha Moore finished sixth overall in the triple jump while Shannon Rech turned in a season best performance of 19:52.88 with a fifth place finish in the 5000 meter race.

The Golden Tornadoes baseball team finally got the monkey off their back and put an end to their ten game losing streak on Saturday. After dropping game one of Saturdayâ??s doubleheader 8-1 to Saint Vincent, Geneva responded with a 6-5 victory in the night cap. Matt Baer went six innings to earn his second victory of the season and Phil Shallenberger tossed a scoreless seventh inning to earn his second save of the year. Geneva posted six runs in the first three innings and never looked back. Shallenberger was effective at the plate as well with two hits and two runs scored in the win. Geneva sits at 9-14 for the season with another handful of PAC contests coming up this week.

Genevaâ??s softball team enjoyed a 3-1 week to get back to the .500 mark at 12-12 for the season. Julie DiLonardo won all three games in the circle including back to back shut-outs in a sweep over Westminster on Saturday. DiLonardo allowed just eight hits in the doubleheader and improved to 11-7 on the season. She also helped at the plate going 3-3 in game one with a pair of RBIâ??s. Adriane Blake launched her fifth home run of the season to help in game two while Lori Deem also contributed with three hits on the day.
