The Geneva College baseball team is rolling at just the right time. The track and field team enjoyed a busy week of competition while the Golden Tornadoesâ?? softball team saw its hot streak halted on Saturday.

Genevaâ??s softball team was running on all cylinders with a six game winning streak heading into a doubleheader at Saint Vincent on Saturday. The Bearcats cooled off the Golden Tornadoes by handing them their first sweep since returning from Florida. Genevaâ??s Julie DiLonardo saw her personal 11 game winning streak snapped in the circle as she fell to 17-8 on the season. Geneva saw a seventh inning lead slip away in game one before falling 9-2 in the night cap. The week started with four victories including sweeps over Grove City and Penn State Beaver. Adriane Blake had seven RBIâ??s in the sweep over Penn State and she ended the week with a team best 41 RBIâ??s on the year. Geneva is sitting at 19-15 for the season with four games remaining in the regular season and their NCCAA national tournament fate still hanging in the balance.

The Geneva baseball team has hit its stride. Winning five games in a row, the Golden Tornadoes have won their last three in dramatic walk-off fashion. Phil Shallenberger came up big twice against Westminster in a pair of victories on Tuesday before Jon Bushmire pulled off the walk-off magic on Friday as Geneva rallied to beat Waynesburg to move its record to 14-17 on the season. The Golden Tornadoes had their doubleheader with Waynesburg washed out on Saturday and rescheduled for Tuesday. Geneva will play five PAC games this week to close out the regular season.

Genevaâ??s track and field team competed twice last week with the first meet coming on Wednesday at Bethany College. Genevaâ??s men finished second overall and the women placed fourth. Highlights included Romaric Setodjiâ??s first place finish in the 400 meter race with a new personal best time of 51.89. Nick Edinger was first in the 1500 meter event while also setting a new meet record with a time of 4:20.73. Eric Berkenpas posted personal bests in both the 800 and 1500 meter races. Stephen Polite is Genevaâ??s most recent NCCAA qualifier with his effort in the triple jump and second place finish. Finally, Monas Cunningham posted three top five finishes in the 110 hurdles, 400 hurdles and javelin.

In womenâ??s action, Julia Urbanski finished second in the 1500 meter and 800 meter races. Kayla Jackson was second in the shot put and fifth in the discus while teammate Liz Michalak posted a personal best with a third place finish in the pole vault.

On Saturday, Urbanski posted a pair of top ten finishes at the very competitive Baldwin-Wallace meet while Shannon Rech was seventh in the 5000 meter event. Aisha Moore turned in a top notch performance with a fifth place finish in the triple jump. In menâ??s action on Saturday, Nick Edinger was tenth in the 5000 meter event.
