The Geneva baseball team ended its season in style, while the softball team still has some work to do in attempting to reach the NCCAA national tournament. The menâ??s and womenâ??s track team competed at the PAC meet on Saturday with several outstanding individual performances.

The womenâ??s track team was led by an outstanding effort from distance runner Julia Urbanski. Finishing second overall in the 1500 meter event, Urbanski also brought home a sixth place finish in the 800 meter event. Aisha Moore turned in a pair of top ten performances with a seventh place finish in the 200 meter race and a fifth place finish in the triple jump. Other female highlights included Shannon Rechâ??s second place finish in the 5000 meter event, Mallory Hunsingerâ??s fifth place effort in the 400 meter hurdles and Kayla Jacksonâ??s top five performances in both the shot put and javelin.

In menâ??s action, Stephen Polite turned in a pair of top five efforts with a fifth place in the long jump and a third place overall spot in the triple jump. Romaric Setodji finished sixth in the 400 meter race while teammate Monas Cunningham was fourth overall in the 110 meter hurdles. In distance action, Scott Thompson finished fourth overall in the 1500 meter race while Nick Edinger turned in a fifth place performance in the 5000 meter event. A total of ten student-athletes have qualified for the NCCAA national meet coming up later this month.

The Geneva baseball team closed out its season with a pair of victories on Saturday against Thiel College. Finishing with a 16-20 overall record, the Golden Tornadoes turned to a pair of seniors on the final day of the season on the mound. Seniors Phil Shallenberger and Dylan Viehdorfer each picked up victories in their final Geneva games. Senior Justin Acosta paced the offense with a three-hit, three-RBI effort in an 8-6 victory in game two of the doubleheader. Senior Joel Dille also came up with an RBI in helping Geneva to a 4-1 win in game one of the twinbill. Genevaâ??s 14 hit attack in the night cap was paced by three hits from Adam Scheiderer.

Genevaâ??s softball team took a pair of must-win games from Waynesburg on Saturday to set up the final day of the regular season on Monday afternoon at home against Thiel. Two Geneva victories on Monday would put them in a position to potentially accept an at-large bid to the NCCAA national tournament in West Palm Beach, Fl next week. Julie DiLonardo pitched 11 scoreless innings on Saturday in picking up a pair of victories to move her record to 20-9 on the season. She is just one win and five strikeouts away from tying both Geneva single season records. At the plate, DiLonardoâ??s sacrifice fly in the bottom of the seventh was the only run of the game before Geneva exploded for a 9-1 win in game two. Geneva is 22-16 on the season with the Thiel doubleheader coming up on Monday.
