The ever growing list of NCCAA national track and field qualifiers continues to balloon. Meanwhile, the baseball and softball teams each ended their weeks with a visit to New Wilmington and that school up north.

Despite several aches and pains that kept some of Genevaâ??s key athletes from competing this weekend, the track and field team had some very positive results at the John Homon Open at the University of Mt. Union. Three athletes added their names to the NCCAA national qualifying list. Freshman Mark Filtz qualified in the triple jump and has incredibly increased his personal best by three feet since the beginning of the indoor season. Katherine Michalak and Kathryn Regalado each qualified in the womenâ??s shot put event. Other highlights included Julia Urbanskiâ??s top ten finishes in the 1500 meter (2nd Place) and 800 meter (7th Place) with personal best times in each event. Meanwhile, the menâ??s top finisher of the day went to Dan Dillman with a personal best and a 6th place finish in the shot put and seventh in the discus.

The Geneva baseball team suffered a pair of tough losses on Saturday each by the score of 5-4 to Westminster. Jon Jurinko lashed a bases clearing triple in the first game but the Golden Tornadoes were unable to hold an early three run lead. In the night cap, the Golden Tornadoes rallied from three runs down in the last inning but came up a run short. Geneva did finish off an impressive comeback on Wednesday to take the season series 2-1 from Washington & Jefferson. Jon Bushmire had three hits including the game winning double in the seventh inning to pull out a 6-5 victory over the Presidentâ??s. Genevaâ??s overall record is 13-10 as it begins another very busy week on the diamond.

In softball, Geneva posted a 3-1 record last week with a sweep at Chatham University and a split against Westminster. Julie DiLonardo started and won both ends of the doubleheader against Chatham allowing just one run in 14 innings of work while striking out 13 batters. On Saturday, she picked up a victory in relief as Geneva posted six runs in the sixth inning to pull out a 6-2 victory. The Titans turned the tables with a 7-4 decision in the night cap. The Golden Tornadoes ended their eight game winning streak with the loss at sit at 15-7 for the season.
