In what turned out to be an historical night on the basketball court, the Geneva College menâ??s team celebrated both its first ever Presidentsâ?? Athletic Conference victory while head coach Jeff Santarsiero reached a coaching milestone. The Golden Tornadoesâ?? men were perfect on the court last week while the womenâ??s team is still searching for that winning formula.

Bringing a six game losing streak into its game with Waynesburg, the Geneva College men got top notch performances from a trio of players to help put an end to the win streak and give the Golden Tornadoes their first ever PAC victory. David Phillips posted 19 points while teammates Drew Santarsiero (17) and Lambros Svingos (16) each helped the scoring load. Genevaâ??s 77-72 win was not only the first conference victory but it was the 250th victory at Geneva for head coach Jeff Santarsiero, who became only the second head coach in Geneva basketball history to reach the mark. The Golden Tornadoes used that momentum on Saturday for a 64-60 victory at Grove City to even their PAC record at 2-2 with a 3-6 mark overall. On Saturday, Lambros Svingos picked up his second consecutive double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds while David Phillips again led the offense with 18 points. Geneva wonâ??t be in action again until its trip to the California Lutheran tournament for a pair of games on December 29-30.

The Geneva womenâ??s program has dropped seven straight games and is still in search of its first win in the PAC. Last week, the Golden Tornadoes dropped games to PAC foes Waynesburg and Grove City. Geneva has an overall record of 1-7 and an 0-4 mark in conference play. Beth DeLuca tried to carry Geneva to its first victory on Saturday as she scored a team best 17 points in the loss at Grove City. The Golden Tornadoes should get a lift from the return of Samantha Fisher, who joined the team for the first time on Saturday after spending the first semester in Rome. The Golden Tornadoes will have an extended time off the court before heading to New Orleans after Christmas for a pair of games at the Big Easy Classic.

There are no athletic games scheduled for the next two weeks leading up to the Christmas Holiday.
