Genevaâ??s distance dynamic duo was at it again on Saturday at Mount Union. Nick Edinger and Sarah-Noel Meek highlighted another solid indoor track and field meet for the Golden Tornadoes. Genevaâ??s menâ??s and womenâ??s basketball teams each remained winless on the road with conference losses at Thomas More and Waynesburg. The good news for both teams is that three of the final four conference games will be played at Metheny Fieldhouse to close out the regular season.

Nick Edinger continues his assault on the Geneva College menâ??s indoor track and field records. The senior broke his own 5000 meter record on Saturday on the way to winning the overall event at Mt. Union. Edinger crossed the line in a record time of 15:34.07 and in the process moved up to number seven in the NCCAA national rankings. In womenâ??s action, Sarah-Noel Meek continues to be outstanding in her freshman campaign as she took home the first place prize in her 5000 meter event. Meek is currently ranked eighth in the NCCAA with her winning time of 18:52.89. Meek has now qualified for the NCCAA national meet in both the 3000 and 5000 meter events.

In other track action, Anna Kluitenberg ran a personal best time of 19:57.25 to finish fourth overall in the 5000 meter race to gain qualification to the NCCAA national meet. Alayna Merkle qualified for NCCAA nationals with her third place time of 5:27.16 in the one-mile event. In the field event category, Sarah Williams qualified for nationals with a throw of 35-03.75 in the shot put which was good enough for sixth place at Mt. Union.

In other menâ??s action, Josh Guiser finished just 0.02 seconds off a national qualifying time in the 60 meter dash. Guiser finished sixth overall at the meet while teammate Aaron Marga posted a personal best time of 7.60 in the same event. Teammates Rick Truesdell (12) and Matt Logan (14) each turned in solid efforts for Geneva in the menâ??s shot put.

Making the long trek to Kentucky is never an easy task as the menâ??s and womenâ??s basketball team faced that challenge on Wednesday night. Thomas More, which is sitting in first place in both the menâ??s and womenâ??s standings, did nothing to disrupt those numbers as the Saints pulled off a sweep against the Golden Tornadoes. On Saturday, Geneva suffered a similar fate as both teams dropped decisions to Waynesburg University. Matt Lorello, who has led Geneva in scoring in seven consecutive games, scored 20 at Thomas More and followed that with an 18 point performance against Waynesburg. Neither Geneva team has won a game away from Metheny Fieldhouse this year and each has just one more chance next Saturday when they travel to Grove City College.
