Aging Is in Your Future

As sure as death and taxes and the fact that you are reading this, you are getting older by the minute. And not just you, but a large number of people are entering their golden years and living longer. In fact, by 2060, the number of older persons in the U.S. will double to close to 100 million. These senior citizens need service professionals now to assist them in their old age.

Therefore, highly qualified aging services professionals are in high demand. Social and community service management is classified as a high priority occupation in Pennsylvania, with a projected growth of 11.5% by 2022. Western Pennsylvania, in particular, is an attractive area for aging services jobs

Some career opportunities in the area of aging services include:

  • Assisted Living or Personal Care Manager
  • Home Health Team Manager
  • Nursing Home: Director of Nursing, Dietary Manager, Activities Manager and other mid-level positions
  • Housing Manager
  • Director or Manager of a Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE)
  • Adult Day Center Director

Bachelor of Professional Studies in Aging Services

Geneva College’s adult degree program offers a bachelor’s degree to help qualify graduates to manage the aging services workforce. Geneva graduates are exceptionally qualified to serve members of the aging population with hearts of mercy and love due to the integration of Christian faith into all areas of the aging services field. Historically, Christianity has been at the forefront of compassion. The earliest hospitals, for example, were started by a young Christian church, and many faith-based and secular hospitals that care for the sick still owe their origins to Judeo-Christian compassion.

This Aging Services curriculum is delivered fully online and complements the life of a person with a current job and family obligations. It can be completed in as few as 16 months.

By the end of the program, a graduate will understand the process of aging, the issues affecting the elderly, the services available to them and the systems that deliver them. Being a professional in aging services is truly a calling from God and a way to show compassion and love for vulnerable populations.

If you are looking for a bachelor’s degree that prepares you for a life of service and one that has great job opportunities in the future, Geneva’s ADP, online Aging Services program just might be right for you.
