Dr. D.C. Schindler (B.A. Notre Dame, M.T.S. John Paul II Institute, M.A., Ph.D. Catholic University of America) is Associate Professor of Metaphysics and Anthropology at the John Paul II Institute, in Washington, D.C.
Dr. Schindler was the Geneva College 2015 Bitar Memorial Lecturer. He returns in connection with the 2018 Bitar Event, Retrieving Beauty, which includes a book discussion, and the 2018 Bitar Memorial Lecture April 9, with Dr. John F. Crosby.
Professor Schindler has focused his study on the nature of the transcendentals (beauty, goodness, and truth) and their anthropological correlates (love, freedom, and reason), especially in the context of Greek, German, and contemporary Catholic philosophy. His books include The Catholicity of Reason (Eerdmans, 2013), Freedom from Reality: The Diabolical Character of Modern Liberty (Notre Dame, 2017), and Love and the Postmodern Predicament (Cascade, forthcoming).
