Alumna and longtime friend of Geneva College, Mrs. Norma Deloris (Woods ′59) White joined her Lord in Heaven on Monday, May 7, 2012, passing peacefully after a four-year battle with cancer. Mrs. White was well known for her loving, compassionate and selfless nature. She had a profound impact on the lives of many faculty, staff, students and alumni of the Geneva community and will be greatly missed.

She met husband, Dr. John H. White ′58, while attending Geneva and the couple was married in 1961. Mrs. White taught in the Wilkinsburg Christian and public schools while her husband attended the Reformed Presbyterian Seminary and the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. White began his career at Geneva in 1970 as dean of religious services and a professor of biblical studies. He was appointed president of the college in 1992 and served in that position until his retirement in 2004. Dr. and Mrs. White served the body of the College Hill Reformed Presbyterian Church for eight years and then Geneva College for 34 years.

During the time that Dr. White served as president, he and Mrs. White lived in Richardson House where she entertained many guests. For a number of years, she held monthly birthday breakfasts for employees of the college, and also often hosted an open house at Christmas time for all faculty, staff and board members.

Mrs. White was an extremely active member of Geneva Women. She became the alumnae group′s vice president in 1973, and was serving as its co-vice president at the time of her passing.

She is survived by her faithful and devoted husband of over 50 years; a daughter Natalie and husband Ray Austin of Moon Twp; a daughter Stephanie of Big Beaver; six grandchildren: Steven, Jennifer and Janelle of Big Beaver and Asa, Aiden and Matthew of Moon Twp; a sister, Eleanor Blair, of Clarinda, Iowa; a sister, Madelyn Adams, of Darlington; a niece, Deloris Strong; four nephews: Mel, Ren, Jon and Joel Adams; and numerous cousins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her in-laws John and Ethel White.

Friends will be received on Wednesday and Thursday, May 9 and 10, 2- 4 p.m. and 6 - 8 p.m. at the Hill and Kunselman Funeral Home, 3801 Fourth Avenue, Beaver Falls, PA 15010.

The funeral service will be on Friday, May 11, at 10 a.m. at the College Hill Reformed Presbyterian Church, 3217 College Avenue, Beaver Falls, PA 15010.
