PinkertonBeloved professor, mentor and friend, Dr. John "Jack" E. Pinkerton, 70, went into the hands of our Heavenly Father on Wednesday, May 6, 2009. He was a faithful servant who gave himself completely to his Savior, his family, his church and Geneva College.

A professor of electrical engineering, Dr. Pinkerton served the Geneva College community for over four decades. Among his many accomplishments was shepherding the college through the threshold of information technology. In 1973, he helped establish the Geneva College Center for Technology Development, and served as its director. The center provides engineering support for local companies who lack the resources to develop their ideas.

"It will be impossible to replace ‘Doc,′" says Vice President of Academic Affairs Dr. Ken Carson. "His dedication to the college, to his department and colleagues, and to his students is the stuff of legends. And so we grieve. Not for Jack, who is now home with his Lord and Savior, but for ourselves and for his many loved ones who remain."

The memorial service for Jack Pinkerton will be Saturday, May 9, at 3 p.m. at the College Hill Reformed Presbyterian Church.
