Students can achieve social studies education certification in either history or political science. For certification, students must have at least 52 hours in a selection of social studies courses, including at least one course each in history, political science, sociology, economics, anthropology, psychology, and geography. Also, students must supplement his/her program with courses in the other areas.
In addition to the social studies preparation in history or political science, students must complete professional education requirements. Courses for secondary education majors cover issues such as: technology, methods, assessments, exceptionalities in the classroom and more. Geneva′s education majors complete the Praxis II content exams at over a 99% rate.
