Designed for working adults, the MSOL program is modeled after Geneva’s Degree Completion Programs. These adult education programs utilize a cohort model in which an average of 15 students begin the program together and take each course as a group. Proceeding through the program in this way, students can complete their Masters in Organizational Leadership degree in two years, meeting one night each week at convenient class locations throughout the Greater Pittsburgh Area.
In the process of creating the MSOL Program, a panel of the nation's most distinguished leadership scholars was consulted to ensure the quality and relevance of the curriculum. In addition, interviews were conducted among area corporate leaders as a means of identifying the ways in which the MSOL program could best meet the educational and professional needs of their employees. Finally, leadership programs representing a variety of colleges and universities from across the country were evaluated. The result is a graduate program that we believe provides an appropriate blend of theory and field-based application.
At the core of the MSOL program is the belief that the concept of leadership must be reconceptualized and applied in unique and innovative ways in order to meet the requirements of today's rapidly changing and complex organizations. This approach is interdisciplinary in nature, drawing upon the social sciences and organizational studies to develop the program's theoretical framework.
In addition, the content of the MSOL program flows directly out of Geneva's mission statement, which is centered on developing servant-leaders. By delivering a biblically based program focusing on this concept, students have the potential to impact leadership in a variety of organizations throughout the region.
