Vencio_pic.jpg BEAVER FALLS, Pa.— Mr. Edgardo Vencio has accepted to serve as Geneva′s first vice president of marketing. The college′s board of trustees voted Feb. 24 to approve Ken Smith′s, president of Geneva, recommendation to hire Vencio.

     Smith established the position for a vice president of marketing in March 2005. The position was created to give leadership to the functions of development, enrollment, and public relations. Vencio′s challenge will be to effectively communicate Geneva′s distinctive in Christian Higher Education to prospective students and parents/guardians. 

     Vencio is from Manila, The Philippines. He was the vice president of marketing for Philamlife, a subsidiary of AIG (American International Group), in Manila for the past four years. His professional career includes executive positions with Hunter Douglas Philippines, Inc. as president and general manager; SWM Corporation, a subsidiary of American Standard Corporation, as vice president of marketing and sales; and Procter and Gamble Philippines, Inc. as a brand manager.

     Vencio graduated from the University of the Philippines. He earned his bachelor′s in mechanical engineering in 1979 and his MBA in 2001.

     He relocated with his family to the United States in Feb. Vencio plans to reside near the college with his wife, Marlu, and son, Gabriel.

     Geneva College is a Christian college of the liberal arts, sciences and professional studies. The college offers over 40 majors in traditional, adult, and graduate programs.  Located 35 miles northwest of Pittsburgh in the town of Beaver Falls, Geneva, founded in 1848, is a member of the Council for Christian Colleges & Universities.
