BEAVER FALLS, Pa.- Geneva College welcomes ten new faculty members this fall. While most of the incoming faculty are new to the college, a few were part-time staff members who have been promoted to a full-time faculty position.

Dr. Rodney C. Austin was hired as an assistant professor of chemistry. He received a doctorate in chemistry from the University of Cincinnati and a bachelor′s degree in chemistry from Mount Vernon Nazarene College. Austin has recently taught at North Carolina Wesleyan College and the University of Cincinnati

Rev. Joseph J. Bucci was hired as an assistant professor of business. He has a MBA from West Chester University and a master′s of education and bachelor′s in political science from William Patterson University. Bucci also has a ministerial degree from Berean University.

Dr. Melissa M. Croteau was hired as assistant professor of English. She has a doctorate in English from Claremont Graduate University, a master′s degree in Shakespeare studies from the University of Birmingham, England, and a bachelor′s degree in English from Biola University. Corteau was recently a lecturer in the English department at the University of San Diego.

Mr. Eric Egan was hired as assistant professor of engineering. Egan has a master′s in mechanical engineering from Carnegie Mellon University and a bachelor′s degree in mechanical engineering from Penn State University.

Ms. Janet Hines was hired as assistant professor of computer science. She has a master of science in telecommunications from the University of Pittsburgh and a MBA from Robert Morris University. Hines received bachelor degrees in electrical engineering, computer science, and mathematics from Geneva College. She has been an employee of Geneva College since 2001, and was recently the director of telecommunications.

Dr. Diana R. Rice was hired as assistant professor of psychology. She has a doctorate in social psychology, a master′s of psychology from Syracuse University, and bachelor′s in psychology from Houghton College. Rice was recently the assistant professor of psychology at Tyndale University College and Seminary.

Dr. Andrea Smidt was hired as assistant professor of history. She has doctorate of early modern European history and a master′s of history from Ohio State University. She received a bachelor of history and political science degree from Calvin College. Smidt was recently the Presidential Fellow of Ohio State University.

Majory Tobias was hired as assistant professor of biology. She has a master′s in zoology from Aurburn University and a bachelor′s in biology and in psychology from Geneva College. Tobias recently held a part time position in the Geneva College biology department.

Kurt J. Werthmuller was hired as assistant professor of history. He has holds a doctorate in history from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and a master′s in Middle-eastern studies from Harvard University. He was recently a resident in Cairo, Egypt, and has taught at Westmont College and the University of California, Santa Barbara.

Dr. Keith R. Willson was hired as assistant professor of math and physics. He has a doctorate in physics, a master′s in colloid, polymer, and surface science, and a master′s in physics from Carnegie-Mellon University. Willson received a bachelor′s in physics from Geneva College. He was recently a group leader for the material flammability section of the Southwest Research Institute′s department of fire technology.

Dr. Brian C. Yowler was hired as assistant professor of biology. He has his doctorate in biochemistry and molecular biology from Penn State College of Medicine, and his bachelor′s in biology from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He was recently a post doctoral scholar at the Penn State College University of Medicine in Hershey, PA.
