BEAVER FALLS, Pa. - This summer students in the master′s of science in organizational leadership (MSOL) program developed a strategic plan for New York City-based Strive. The plan will be presented to Lizzette Barcelona, executive director of Strive in New York, Monday, Aug. 15 at 6 p.m. at Geneva College in the presidents′ dining room.

Strive is a Harlem based non-profit job training and placement agency specializing in assisting the hard-to-employ. The organization has affiliates in 20 U.S. cities and a branch in London, England.

The MSOL students′ classes have met at the Airport Office Park in Moon Township for the past two years. The project began as a standard case study of Strive for their strategy course. The students′ course work developed into a consulting opportunity for a Strive after one student, Timothy Brown of Coraopolis, contacted the organization. Brown asked Strive to provide organizational data and three objectives to help develop a strategic plan. Strive welcomed the pro bono offer and provided the information to the class.

Strive has had national exposure on 60 Minutes for its efforts. For more information on Strive, visit the organization′s Web site at www.strivenational.org.
