BEAVER FALLS, Pa.- A seminar on the Katrina Emergency Tax Relief Act (KETRA) will take place Wednesday, Nov. 30 at 7 p.m in Alexander Hall, Benedum Room. The seminar will explain the details of KETRA and its effects on income and estate tax reductions through charitable giving.

KETRA creates a window of opportunity between August 28 and December 31, 2005 for increased donations to charitable organizations. Benefits from KETRA include the ability to deduct donations up to 100 percent of the donor′s adjusted gross income, and the ability for donors age 59 ½ or older to withdraw money from retirement accounts and not pay a penalty for early withdrawal. Other possibilities for donations and tax deductions will be discussed at the seminar.

KETRA was enacted into law to encourage donations to Hurricane Katrina relief efforts. The package promotes additional charitable donations beyond regular contributions in response to Hurricane Katrina and the needs of other charitable organizations.

This seminar is a free public service sponsored by the Geneva foundation. The presenters will be William M. Kaneski, CPA and Jeffrey Ingros, board member of the Geneva Foundation. To register, call 724-847-6520 or e-mail events@geneva.edu.
