Area schools participate in Henry Mancini Awards


BEAVER FALLS, Pa.- Fifteen local schools will participate in Geneva′s 12th annual Henry Mancini Musical Theatre Awards.

The fifteen schools from the Beaver, Butler, and Lawrence County area are nominated for excellence in several categories, including outstanding actor, actress, costumes, sets and scenery, dance, and overall performance. These schools include: Aliquippa High School, Beaver Area High School, Beaver County Christian School, Beaver Falls High School, Center Area High School, Freedom Area High School, Hopewell High School, Knoch Senior High School, Lincoln High School, Quigley Catholic High School, Riverside High School, Rochester High School, Seneca Valley High School, Shenango High School, and Western Beaver.

The Henry Mancini Awards program was created to support music and the arts in area high schools. The program seeks to recognize the achievement of high school theatre programs and present scholarships to students pursuing a career in an arts-related field. Chris Mancini, son of Henry Mancini, will help present these awards.

An awards ceremony will be held Wednesday, May 24 at 7 p.m. in Metheny Fieldhouse.
