Pittsburgh, PA – On what was less than acceptable conditions, Geneva′s men′s soccer team opened its American Mideast Conference North Division season on Tuesday at Point Park. Point Park scored all three of its goals in the second half and came away with a 3-1 victory over Geneva. The Golden Tornadoes dropped to 0-2 on the season.

Neither team could generate any offense in the first 45 minutes on a field that would be better described as a mud pit. The Pioneers finally got on the board five minutes into the second half. Just four minutes later, Jonah Creasy scored the first goal of the season for the Golden Tornadoes to tie the score.

Despite Geneva′s controlling of the ball and of the field, Point Park managed to get the go-ahead goal with just under 25 minutes to play in the game. The Pioneers put the game away in the final minutes with some insurance and their third goal of the match.

Geneva will head to the Bethany College tournament this weekend in search of its first win in 2006 and the first win for new head coach Todd Beall. Geneva will face Bethany on Friday and McDaniel College on Saturday.
