Beaver Falls, PA – It seemed like forever for Geneva′s men′s soccer team since it found the opponents net and since it had the opportunity to play on its home field. Actually, it had been four games since the Golden Tornadoes could get on the board and it was just the first home match of the season. On Wednesday night, Geneva frantically tried to rally with two second half goals, but came up short on the wrong side of a 4-2 decision to LaRoche College. The loss dropped Geneva to 0-5-1, while LaRoche moved to 3-3 on the young season.

LaRoche found the net for the only goal of the first half in the 23rd minute. Geneva had a few chances to tie the score, but could not capitalize. After the Redhawks extended their lead with a pair of goals in the second half, it appeared Geneva was out of the match.

Jonah Creasy scored his second goal of the season to break Geneva′s goal scoring drought and cut the lead to just two with four minutes left in regulation. LaRoche quickly answered and once again extended to a three goal advantage one minute later. Geneva′s Will Godfrey scored the final goal of the match in the final minute to close out the scoring.

Despite the loss, Geneva may take some of its offensive momentum into its action over the weekend. LaRoche was able to out shoot the Golden Tornadoes 15-6 in the match, but it was a couple Redhawk goals from in front of the Geneva net that proved to be the difference.

Geneva will stay on familiar territory when it hosts Seton Hill University at Merriman Athletic Complex on Saturday night.
