Amherst, NY – Geneva opened its 2006 AMC North divisional schedule on Friday with the first of three matches in the state of New York in 24 hours. Geneva got past Daemen College 3-1 to move its overall record to 4-3, including a 1-0 mark in the AMC North.

One day after pulling off a thrilling 3-2 victory over Thiel College, the Golden Tornadoes traveled to New York to open the conference. With a career high 27 kills against Thiel, Marisa Barickman continued to shine with 19 kills on Friday night. Barickman got a lot of help from her teammates. Namely, Megan Summers and Sarah Bruck helped out on the offensive side of the net. Summers threw down ten kills, while Bruck chipped in with seven kills, including four critical kills in the fourth and deciding game. Summers also did solid work on defense with a team best seven blocks.

Caryn Azure chipped in with 32 assists, while Allison Seldomridge helped Geneva′s cause with 29 digs.

With the new AMC scheduling format, Geneva will have a busy Saturday. Rather than playing its New York matches in a central location, the Golden Tornadoes will visit each campus. On Saturday at noon, Geneva will face-off against Roberts Wesleyan. At the completion of that match, the Golden Tornadoes will hop back on the bus and travel to Houghton for a match later that night.

Geneva won′t play another home match until September 28th when it faces Mt. Vernon Nazarene University.
