Scoreless Tie With Houghton, Geneva Continues Improvement

Beaver Falls, PA - It′s no secret that Geneva′s men′s soccer team has struggled all season to find offense. On Saturday afternoon, the Golden Tornadoes again were unable to find the back of the net, but it was a much different story for Geneva on the final score. Geneva played a very talented Houghton College team to a 0-0 tie after 110 minutes of play. Geneva′s record moved to 0-6-3 on the season and will continue to look for its first victory of the season. Being shut-out for the sixth time in 2006, the Golden Tornadoes will certainly be happy with an important tie in their second conference match of the season. Within the AMC North, Geneva is now 0-1-1.

Both teams had above average chances to get on the board, but both goalkeepers shined to keep the scoreboard blank. For Geneva, Sam McCracken made seven saves to pick up his second shut-out of the season. The Golden Tornadoes out scored Houghton 12-7 on the afternoon.

In overtime, Geneva had one flury inside of ten yards that it could not capitalize on to get a goal and Houghton answered by hitting the post in the second overtime.

Geneva will look to build off of its momentum and remain in search of its first victory when the Golden Tornadoes travel to Pitt-Johnstown next Tuesday. Geneva will return home for a match-up with Walsh next Friday night.
