South Euclid, OH – Geneva′s women′s soccer team suffered its fifth consecutive loss on Monday night in a 2-1 decision against AMC North foe Notre Dame College. The loss dropped Geneva to 4-8 overall and more importantly moved its conference record to 2-3.

Notre Dame opened the scoring on a penalty kick just eight minutes into the match. Both teams had several chances throughout the night, however, it was the play of sophomore goalkeeper Amber Weaver that kept Geneva in the match. Weaver turned away 15 shots and kept the Falcons off the board until the 81st minute when Notre Dame extended its lead to 2-0.

The Golden Tornadoes tried to rally late and got their only goal of the match in the 88th minute when Nicole Beadling found the net on a pass from Jenna Witkowski. The goal was Beadling′s second of the season.

Geneva was out shot 18-10 on the night, but Weaver shined in the nets for Geneva. Kathrine Bull got the start for Geneva in net for the first time in her career. Weaver came in at the five minute mark and played until the 82nd minute when she was forced to leave with a red card. Bull finished the game with five saves on the night.

The Golden Tornadoes will stay on the road this Saturday when they travel to rival Malone College. Geneva/Malone match-ups take on more significance these days with head coach Leta Gramlich have graduated from Malone just a few years ago. Geneva and Malone will meet Saturday afternoon in Canton, OH. Geneva′s next conference game will be Saturday, October 14th when it hosts Daemen College on homecoming afternoon.
