Greensburg, PA – Geneva head volleyball coach makes no excuses for playing a difficult non-conference schedule. In fact, she deliberately schedules difficult opponents to better prepare her team for the rigors of the American Mideast Conference. On Tuesday night, the Golden Tornadoes dropped another match outside of the conference in a 3-1 decision at Seton Hill University. Geneva′s overall record fell to 12-18, however, the Golden Tornadoes are still right in the thick of the conference title chase with an 8-3 record in the AMC North. Outside of the conference this year, Geneva is posting just a 4-15 record, but they are getting it done when it counts the most.

On Tuesday night, Seton Hill got off to a good start with a 30-26 victory in game one. In game two, the Golden Tornadoes simply put on a clinic in cruising past the Griffins by an unimaginable 30-9 margin. The momentum from the game two victory, however, could not be maintained and Geneva dropped games three and four in losing to Seton Hill for the second time in 2006.

Geneva will be happy to get back into AMC North play on Thursday night in a critical match against Daemen College. The Golden Tornadoes are currently tied with Roberts Wesleyan for second place with both teams just one game behind Notre Dame College for the top spot. After Daemen, Geneva has conference matches with Ursuline and Carlow remaining on the schedule, which will ultimately decide Geneva′s post-season seeding for the AMC Tournament in the second week of November.
