Pepper Pike, OH – It is difficult to come up with a perfect game in volleyball, but senior Megan Summers came about as close as you can to perfection in Geneva′s 3-0 victory at Ursuline College on Tuesday night. With the victory, Geneva once again claimed sole possession of second place in the AMC North with a conference record of 10-3, which is just one game behind first place Notre Dame College. Overall, the Golden Tornadoes improved to 14-18 for the season.

Summers stood tall as Geneva′s middle hitter on Tuesday. Already one of the most efficient hitters in the American Mideast Conference, Summers took her game to another level against Ursuline. She threw down 14 kills on just 21 swings in the match, which included zero hitting errors. Even more impressive was the fact that Summers successfully slammed 13 kills in her first 14 swings. She had some help on the outside as Marisa Barickman led the way with 17 kills for a Geneva offense that was cruising in overdrive.

Geneva′s offensive simulation was orchestrated by senior setter Caryn Azure, who led Geneva with 47 kills, which calculates to a cool 15.67 assists per game. Geneva′s fourth senior on the roster, Allison Seldomridge, led the way with 26 more digs in the victory.

Geneva′s fabulous four seniors will close out the regular season for the final time at Metheny Fieldhouse on Thursday night when the Golden Tornadoes host Carlow University. With a Geneva victory in the season finale and some additional help over the weekend, the chance still remains for the Golden Tornadoes to claim their first-ever AMC North crown. Geneva will open tournament play next weekend, which could be at Metheny Fieldhouse should Geneva gain the number one seed.
