Grove City, PA - Ron Galbreath coached teams are known for its good defense. On Wednesday night, the Golden Tornadoes took it to another level by holding Grove City to just five second half field goals in a 50-39 victory. The win improved Geneva′s record to 4-1, while Grove City remained winless at 0-4.

Grove City managed just 14 field goals for the entire game, including just five field goals in the second half. The Golden Tornadoes were able to build upon a two-point halftime lead to out score Grove City 26-17 in the final 20 minutes.

"We pride ourselves on solid defense and tonight we really got after it," said head coach Ron Galbreath. "We forced a lot of turnovers and did a great job in the second half." To be exact, Geneva forced 29 Grove City turnovers, while turning the ball over 20 times themselves.

For Geneva, Allyson Clarke picked up her third double-double of the season with 12 points and 12 rebounds. Jackie Anthony and Michawn Rich each scored ten points to help Geneva′s cause in the victory.

Geneva has opened the season by winning four of its first five games and will be back in action on Saturday night when it hosts Seton Hill University in another non-conference match-up.

Geneva, which will join the Presidents′ Athletic Conference next year, got a taste of what life will be like in the PAC in 2007. "These teams play hard," said Galbreath. "We had better be ready each and every night, because is certainly not going to be easy."
